9u Alabama Elite vs Germantown Sox
Florence, AL-The Stars Fell on Alabama Super NIT got underway this past weekend in Florence, Alabama. The tournament included 59 major teams from six states vying for a berth to the Elite 32 World Series. The weather was perfect over the weekend, allowing for some great baseball and lots of fun.
The 9U Championship featured the TBS #13 Dulins Dodgers vs Atlanta Prospects. The Dodgers entered bracket play as the top seed, with victories of 17-4 over the Germantown Sox and 10-2 over M.A.D. Mavericks. Second seeded Atlanta Prospect entered bracket play with victories over TBS #12 Arkansas Storm 3-1 and Vision Baseball 21-8.
In bracket play, Dulins defeat Storm Baseball 5-3 and M.A.D. Mavericks 11-3. The Prospects defeated the West Florida Hammerheads 11-3 and TBS HM Alabama Elite 11-3. In the championship The Dulins Dodgers came away with the victory 15-11. With the Dodgers already claiming an Elite 32 berth, the Atlanta Prospect accepted the base down bid.
The 10U Championship consisted of the TBS HM East Cobb Astros and TBS# 13 Alabama Elite. The Astros entered bracket play as the third seed with victories over Team Desoto 17-0, and Birmingham Believers 10-5. Alabama Elite was the fourth seed by virtue of wins also over Team Desoto and Birmingham Believers 8-6 and 3-1 respectively.
Bracket play saw the Astros defeat Germantown Giants , Future Prospects and Team Halo. The Alabama Elite defeated Birmingham Believers, M.A.D. Academy and TBS #17 Dulins Dodgers. The East Cobb Astros secured their bid to Disney’s Elite 32 by defeating Alabama Elite 12-5. Dulins Dodgers, Team Halo and Alabama Elite have also earned bids by winning previous Super NITs
The 11U Championship matchup was between TBS #10 MS Storm and Hoover Bucs. This would be a grudge match as the lone in-class loss for the Storm was to the Bucs.
The MS Storm entered bracket play as the second seed. The Storm defeated M.A.D Mavericks 8-0 and Diamond Kings 10-2. Hoover Bucs were the fifth seed with victories over M.A.D Mavericks 17-6 and Diamond Kings 9-3.
The Storm started off bracket play with victories over Atlanta Blue Jays 6-2, Dulins Dodgers 6-2, and Bandits Baseball 8-5. The Hoover Bucs defeated Hurricanes Baseball 11-3, SC Bulldogs 19-2 and TBS #22 & top seed Memphis Tigers 20-10 in an extra inning affair. The MS Storm defeated Hoover 9-0 to capture their third straight Super NIT. The Hoover Bucs were also awarded a pass down berth to Elite 32. It will be fun to see if the MS Storm can match the 5 Straight Super NIT Championships by 12U Georgia Bandits in 2011.

12U Spalding Athletics- Alabama Super NIT Champions
The 12U Championship saw the Spalding Athletics Elite Gold battle TBS #15 East Cobb Astros.
The third seed Athletics finished pool play 2-0 with wins over Warriors and ThunderStixx 19-4 & 15-1 respectively. The fifth seed Astros finished pool play with a 1-1 record. They defeated Showtime 10-0 but dropped a hard fought battle to the Outlaws 14-13.
The Athletics reached the final, defeating the Thunderstixx 12-3 and TBS #23 Dulins Dodgers 3-1. The Astros defeated the Outlaws in their rematch 10-5 and Showtime 6-2. Spalding Athletics Elite Gold went on to defeat the Astros in a back in forth game 9-7. The Athletics were very excited to accept their berth to the Elite 32.
